Climbing Trip to Sardinia

Now the trip to Sardinia has ended. I spent one week there together with my husband Bernie. We explored an island where I have never been before and climbed on rock in different crags throughout the island. The areas we visited were Grotta do Yin in Cala Gonone, Quirra in Dosmusnovas, Urania in Isili and Millennium as well as El Chorro in Cala Gonone again. In the first mentioned crag we found vertical and steep routes on dark rock. As opposed to this, Quirra offers interesting routes on red-colored rock. The total contrast was Urania. There, we climbed powerful and very steep routes on polished holes. It was like a campusboard session. After this power climbing, we found long routes on huge tufas in Millennium. This cave doesn’t only attract climbers, but also tourists as this cave is one of the sightseeing areas in Cala Gonone. The crag El Chorro nearby is less steep and less long as Millennium. However, it offers the type of climbing I like most: slightly overhanging routes on a mixture of tufa, holes and crimps. Our stay in Sardinia was definitely worth the trip and a new experience for us. We got to know a culture that was new to us, moved through an idyllic landscape, met nice people and had delicious traditional food.
